Decision Model
==============

The :doc:`Decision Analysis <DEXiGlosDAnal>` approach is characterized
by the use of decision models. In general, a *decision model* encodes
knowledge and information that is relevant for solving the :doc:`decision
problem <DEXiGlosDProb>` at hand. Decision models are usually
developed by :doc:`participants <DEXiGlosPart>` of the :doc:`decision
process <DEXiGlosDProc>` using tools such as :doc:`DEXi <DEXi>`.
Typical models used in Decision Analysis are:

-  decision trees,
-  influence diagrams,
-  :doc:`multi-attribute models <DEXiGlosMAMod>`.

Among these, :doc:`DEXi <DEXi>` employs :doc:`qualitative multi-attribute
models <DEXiGlosQMAMod>`.

Once developed, the decision model is used to:

-  :doc:`evaluate options <DEXiGlosEval>` and
-  perform various :doc:`analyses <DEXiGlosAnal>`, such as what-if or
   sensitivity analysis.

The obtained evaluation and analysis results provide the basis for
decision maker's assessment of options and possible choice of the best
one.
